About
Hello there, I'm Sarah and I'm a self employed stained glass artist working in the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire, UK.
During the late 80's I completed a graphic design Diploma course with a view to going on to study it further. However in my heart I knew that I wasn't happy and felt no passion for what I was doing. I searched around for another outlet for my creativity and stumbled across an architectural stained glass course at Swansea. I gained a place and for the next three years I immersed myself in learning from some exceptionally knowledgeable and talented lecturers. After graduating I carried on my learning whilst being employed at a studio where I was able to work on numerous church and domestic commissions and also glass restoration for a number of prestigious buildings.
I've been extremely fortunate to work on the glass in some amazing buildings over the years, including Gloucester Cathedral, National Trust properties and historic houses as well as local churches and domestic homes and it doesn't matter how large or small the glass is, I still get such a thrill when handling glass and knowing that I am carrying on a craft which has changed very little over the Centuries.
Having become self employed a number of years ago I have focused more on producing new commissions and autonomous panels that reflect my love of the natural world that surrounds my workshop. I am also heavily influenced by the stories, myths and legends of the British Isles, and also those from further afield too. It is something I have loved from a little girl- finding the magic in the world.
Please feel free to drop me a line about any commission ideas you may have. To keep up to date with what's going on with me, follow me on Instagram or Facebook.
