This gorgeous little badger is taking a walk back home through the ferns. The design comes from a lino print which I produced, (which can be found under the lino print section of the shop). This decorative glass panel is made with mouthblown glass and comes with an oak stand.
Each panel is made using traditional stained glass techniques which have changed very little since early medieval times. I design each piece and produce a working drawing which is called a cartoon. From this a cutline is made which is a guide for cutting each piece of glass. The majority of the glass I use is mouthblown as this glass has a vibrancy and interest to it due to the occasional air bubbles and markings in the glass which create a liveliness. This glass is brought in sheets and is cut down to size following the cut line. Any detailed work is now hand painted onto the glass and fired in my kiln to fuse the paint to the glass for permanence. Sometimes there may be multiply firings. The glass pieces are then leaded up in lengths of lead and soldered together to fix in place. Leaded light cement is then brushed into the gap between the glass and lead and finally, when dry is cut back and cleaned off and the panel is polished.
The photos show the panel in daylight and on a lightbox. I try to show colours as accurately as possible but please be aware that photographing glass is very hard.
This listing is for glass and oak stand only.
